The North American Association for Environmental Education created the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education program. This program produced the following documents that provide systematic guidance for the development of quality environmental education curricula and programs.

PLT had an integral role throughout the development and implementation of the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education. PLT has formally adopted the guidelines and commits to their use in the development and implementation of organizational activities.
