Explore the interconnections between trees, watersheds, and communities with Project Learning Tree's new activity collection!
Our communities rely on water, but have you ever wondered the source of the water you use for drinking, cooking, or bathing? Developed in collaboration with the USDA Forest Service, Project Learning Tree's new activity collection for grades 9-10 (with variations for grades 6-8) includes three place-based investigations that examine the relationships between forests and watersheds while investigating their impacts on communities.

Explore the environment with three downloadable PLT activities and spark student curiosity.
Using GIS technology created by the USDA Forest Service, Forests to Faucets 2.0, explore connections between your community’s water and forestland.
Investigate your community history to identify patterns in how housing, water systems, and green spaces have changed over time.
Examine different perspectives on a community issue related to forests and watersheds and plan to take action in your local watershed.
Harness the power of visualization technology through the Forests to Faucets 2.0 Data Explorer, created by the USDA Forest Service. Throughout the activity collection, you'll find prompts for students to use the GIS mapping tool. Use it to learn about the sources of your drinking water, determine whether and how those sources may be threatened, and find out what watersheds are upstream and downstream.
