Resources for Southeastern Forests and Climate Change Activity 1 – Stepping through Climate Science

The activity provides an overview of the connections between forests and climate. Students create a timeline of climate science over the past 200 years and gather information from U.S. Forest Service video about climate mitigation and adaptation strategies for forests.

Watch this 13-minute video to learn about what the U.S. Forest Service is doing to help our forests as we deal with a changing climate. The video is approximately 13 minutes long; suggested stopping points are at 8:17 and 10:35 for discussion. Alternatively, you may decide to have students watch the video for homework.
